Tohoku is home to some of the most talented craftsman and artists throughout the whole of Japan.

One such example of this is the peninsula of Oga in Akita prefecture, the above video shares some of the talented people that the area is home to.

Featured here is a craftsman who makes the intricate masks that the demon-like ‘Namahage’ wear.

An individual making Ishi-yaki Nabe – a regional dish that features piping hot stones being placed into a hot-pot to give it a distinct smokey flavour.

As well as a performance by one of the few players of the regional Akita-Shamisen.
